How To Get Fast views on your very first Youtube channel

In today’s post, I’m going to cover what types of video content you should and shouldn’t create for your brand new YouTube Channel and how to get views on your very first YouTube video.

1. HOW-TO VIDEOS

The best videos to create when you first launch your YouTube channel are how-to videos. Actionable tips generate way more interest, views and shares than videos that focus solely on being inspirational.

After all, you don’t want people to watch it and click off. You want them to help you take on some of the marketing work: you want them to share.

How-to videos perform best because people are constantly browsing the internet to find out out how to do something.

If you want to grow a community and get more views on YouTube, you want to create videos providing answers to questions your ideal audience wants to know, or problems they’re dying to solve.

This is the FASTEST way to grow your channel when you’re just starting out.

But if you want to create good how-to videos, you will want to make sure that they’re executed in a way that is most entertaining to your audience.

It doesn’t matter if you create a 1 minute video or a 10 minute video, a boring video is a boring video. I advise all of my clients to focus on creating good content over short content. Why?

Youtube ranks videos higher that are longer in length because it’s perceived as being more valuable.

So if you want to learn the secret of creating entertaining, long form videos, I suggest you download my FREE video script and guide.

When you script your content, you’re able to list out your ideas in a way that is most digestible to your audience, using the least amount of words possible. When you film your videos off the cuff, you’ll most likely go on a tangent somewhere in your video, and your audience will go elsewhere.

2. TO VLOG OR NOT TO VLOG?!

Vlogs can be an great way to “edutain” your audience (aka educate and entertain) if done the right way.

Really quick, let’s discuss why I don’t recommend vlogging when you first start your channel. Don’t worry, after I tell you why not, I’ll show you how you can do it well if you’re going to do it.

Until you’ve developed an audience, I really recommend staying away from vlogging, especially if you want to grow a customer or client base.

Here Is the problem with vlogging:

Most of the times they’re not created with SEO in mind which makes it hard for people to find your videos. If the content and title of your video is not something that is searchable, you wont get any views because people won’t be able to discover it. This is why channels that typically focus on this type of content take a really long time to grow. They’re usually created with ego in mind. One of the hardest things about going from Creative to Creative Entrepreneur is figuring out how to create content for your audience versus creating content for yourself. The problem is, when you’re just getting your feet wet, and getting the ball rolling with YouTube, chances are you haven’t perfected your craft for storytelling yet, so you won’t know what bits to keep in or what bits to take out and your vlogs will only detail the parts of your life that you enjoy versus what your audience will enjoy.

I really recommend developing your craft for understanding the market and understanding your base before vlogging regularly (unless your goal is to become a vlogger that is or your audience is requesting vlogs).

HOW TO VLOG THE RIGHT WAY

If you want to vlog, instead of doing a day in the life, pick a particular part of your day to show something you know your audience would find interesting, but there is still an educational and entertaining element. Like…

“My Meditation Routine”, if you’re a Spiritual / Holistic Coach.“What I Eat In A Day”, if your brand is about Fitness“How I Pack My Suitcase”, if you’re a Travel Vlogger“My Home Office Tour 2017”, if you have a Freedom Based Business.

All of these video concepts can be done in vlog style but here is why these types of video content perform better:

They’re very specific to a particular audience. They contain actionable tips and provide an entertaining experienceEach video has a title that is infused with highly searched keywords.

If you want to get more views, you have to create content that people are searching for, and you have to make sure that you are infusing the keyword phrases people are searching for in your titles, description and tags!

3. HAVE A PRE-LAUNCH STRATEGY

Every Entrepreneur makes the mistake at one time or another of launching a product, idea or service to an empty room.

You don’t have to launch your YouTube channel to an empty room if you spend 14-45 days beforehand building up an audience and getting them excited about your new launch.

If you have a blog or an Instagram following, you can launch your channel in 14-30 days with an audience ready to watch.

If you don’t have a following yet (outside of your family & friends), I recommend building up your audience for up to 45 days on your blog or social media before launching your YouTube channel.

4. HAVE A PROMOTIONAL STRATEGY

Don’t just post your YouTube video and then disappear.

It’s important to have a promotional strategy for your videos and your YouTube Channel.

Consider a few things…

Will you like and leave genuine comments on other YouTube channels to spread the word about your brand? What Facebook Groups are you apart of that allow you to share your video content on special days? Will you use Instagram Stories or Instagram Video Posts to share a preview of your next video? Will you create a special Pin to share your video across Pinterest? What communities are you apart of that will allow you to share your videos with their audience? Are there are any blogs that would love your video content that you could guest post on and share your video as well?

These are the things that you want to keep in mind. Just like any other social media platform, the only way most people grow is that they participate on the platform. You have to engage with other YouTuber’s. You have to also have a content strategy. And lastly, you need to have a promotional strategy.
